Ceremony Year (1995)

Movies Came Out In (1994)

Winner:

Forrest Gump – Amazing movie.  I know some folks find it corny, I’m not one of them, I simply love it. The story of a “simple” man, from boyhood in the 50’s to life in the 90’s. I really love the story telling and filming of real events into Forrest’s life.

Four Weddings and a Funeral – Never saw it originally, just watched recently.  I enjoyed it, pretty funny/watchable.  Not your typical nominated movie with a plot which is a romantic comedy in a playboy bachelor thinks he may have found “the one” while attending his friend’s social occasions (weddings & funeral).

Pulp Fiction – Amazing movie.  I know some folks find it too violent/disturbing, I’m not one of them, simply love it. Quentin Tarantino does his usually fantastic story telling in which he weaves several plots lines into one. The plot involves mobsters, a washed up boxer, druggies, and a couple diner thieves. I’ve found that I can always pick up something new with each viewing since I originally saw it in 1994.

Quiz Show – An OK movie, I thought it was pretty interesting and worth watching. It’s a true story of Charles Van Doren, a game show contestant in the 1950’s, who was part of a cheating scandal which captivated America.

The Shawshank Redemption – Amazing movie.  I’ve probably seen it at least 75 times. The plot is simple, as a man is wrongly convicted to life in prison for the murder of his wife & lover, and he tries to bring normalcy to prison life all while plotting his escape & revenge.

Brian’s Winner:

Wow, 3 very tough choices between Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption.  I think I’d go with The Shawshank Redemption , but I can live with Forrest Gump for sure.
