Ceremony Year (2007)

Movies Came Out In (2006)

Winner:

The Departed – One of my favorite movies of all time, I can watch over and over again.  Acting, characters, story, everything about this film is awesome. Undercover cops, Irish gangs, Mafia, drugs, FBI, Jack, and great music, this movie literally has it all.

Babel – Was “ok”.  Not my favorite movie, maybe I was expecting more. A tragedy strikes a married couple in the Moroccan dessert, and then the story affecting four families is woven together. Because of the big stars in it, I think I was left wanting better.

Letters from Iwo Jima – I really wanted to like this movie, but I found it a bit boring unfortunately.  Usually the type of movie that’s right up my alley. A WWII story told from the perspective of the Japanese and directed by Clint Eastwood. Again, I wanted more.

Little Miss Sunshine – Never saw this until recently, and I found it to be “meh”.  They didn’t build up the characters enough such that I gave a hoot about what happened to them in the end.  It was really disappointing and I would not recommend watching. A family travels in a Volkswagen bus to get their daughter to a beauty pageant (despite not really being the type).

The Queen – Enjoyed this movie quite a bit.  Didn’t really pay attention to this subject (Princess Diana’s death) to an extensive deal when it happened.  It was a nice recap, and great perspective from the Queen’s side, and honestly very interesting to me personally because I’ve been watching Netflix’s “The Crown”, so it’s revealing and interesting to see other portrayals.

Brian’s Winner:

The Departed – Hands down.
