Movies Came Out In (1990)

Winner:

Dances with Wolves – A classic.  It’s a bit on the long side, but it doesn’t drag in my opinion.  I’ve always loved this film and have watched it many times. A soldier during the Civil War is assigned a lonesome outpost where he befriends a wolf and the local Indian tribe, this does not go over well with his superiors and fellow soldiers when confronted.

Awakenings – Really good movie, I enjoyed it very much. Robert Deniro delivers a great performance as the main patient, and Robin Williams is fantastic as the doctor, and the story is about bringing humanity back to patients when all others have given up on them.

Ghost – I liked it, wasn’t great, to be honest, I’m a little surprised it was nominated (not the typical movie which gets nominated). The story is a bit corny/far-fetched in that a murdered husband’s spirit stays behind to protect his wife from danger. It’s got some great scenes in it, but all in all, I think it’s just an average movie.

The Godfather Part III – Hated it.  Should have just left well enough alone, and let 1 and 2 stand by themselves.  This movie stunk. I have rewatched several times thinking maybe I’ve missed something. I didn’t it’s disappointing each time.

Goodfellas – Great mafia movie.  I’ve seen it well over 50 times, can watch it whenever it’s on television. It’s the story of Henry Hill’s rise and fall in the Italian mafia, not for the faint of heart.

Brian’s Winner:

Dances with Wolves with Goodfellas coming in a close second.
