Green Book<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 An Italian-American bouncer is hired to drive an African-American jazz pianist thru a series of concert dates in the Deep South, during the 1960\u2019s.\u00a0 This was a really good film.\u00a0 Provocative and thought-provoking, as it\u2019s inspired by a real story and true friendship.\u00a0 Some critics were not happy with the portrayal of Dr. Shirley and how his character seems to morph into whatever the director\/writer felt that audiences would feel comfortable with.\u00a0 I can definitely appreciate that, and kept that in mind as I watched it.\u00a0 But overall, I really enjoyed this movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

Black Panther<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Saw in the theater and enjoyed this Marvel action\/fantasy film.\u00a0 Good plot, good action, good acting, very entertaining in my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

BlacKkKlansman<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>I really liked this film.\u00a0 The acting was great.\u00a0 Some of the cinematography and dialog reminded me of Quentin Tarantino, more so than Spike Lee (in a good way).\u00a0 Highly recommend this film.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to give too much away, but the premise (based on a biography) is a black undercover officer in the 1970\u2019s infiltrates the KKK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

Bohemian Rhapsody<\/a><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0I\u2019m a big Queen fan, and thoroughly enjoyed this movie.\u00a0 I learned quite a few new interesting facts about the band and Freddie Mercury in general.\u00a0 Really recommend watching this movie, even if you\u2019re not a fan of Queen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

The Favourite<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0A very cheeky comedy set in England during Queen Anne\u2019s reign where a lady friend of the queen and a newly arrived servant vie for the affection and attention of the queen.\u00a0 This movie is pretty funny and has some jaw-dropping scenes.\u00a0 It\u2019s well-written, fast paced and doesn\u2019t drag at any particular moment.\u00a0 I highly recommend this film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Roma<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0Watched on Netflix, heard great things so I was excited to watch it.\u00a0 In my opinion, it wasn\u2019t great, it was good\/okay.\u00a0 A bit on the artsy-side for my tastes, not incredibly exciting\/riveting, but interesting at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

<\/a>A Star Is Born<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0A very good film, but nothing like the original film (other than the title).\u00a0 Great acting and singing by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.\u00a0 The story is interesting, but a little transparent at times.\u00a0 A tad on the long side, but an enjoyable film nonetheless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\"\"\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Vice<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> \u2013\u00a0A very good film, as currently most adults would have lived thru the Bush\/Cheney years, this movie should be required watching before any election.\u00a0 Certainly some of the incidents are hyped for dramatic flair, but there\u2019s enough truth in the story telling to really make your blood boil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a great year for films, picking a winner was hard.\u00a0 I think I would have selected BlacKkKlansman<\/a><\/strong> as my personal winner.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
